Work With Huskies in Tromsø
Looking for seasonal work in Norway and a job that feels a little different from everyday life? At Tromsø Villmarkssenter, you can become part of an international team working with huskies, guests, and outdoor experiences just outside Tromsø.
Each winter, around 60 people join our team, while our summer crew is smaller, with around 25 staff members. Life here is busy, social, and hands-on. Some days are spent guiding Northern Lights tours, snowshoe hikes, dog sledding tours, or other Arctic experiences. Other days may include helping in the dog yard, preparing equipment, welcoming guests, or supporting daily operations around the centre.
Working at Villmarkssenter means being part of a team where flexibility matters. No two days are exactly the same, and we look for people who enjoy a dynamic work environment, are comfortable outdoors, and genuinely like working with both people and dogs.

Tromsø Villmarkssenter AS is looking for a few more passionate and service-minded Northern Lights / Snowshoe Guides for the 2026/2027 winter season.
Located on scenic Kvaløya, just 25 minutes from Tromsø, we are home to more than 200 Alaskan huskies. In addition to our renowned dog sledding experiences, we offer carefully crafted Aurora Husky Visits, snowshoe adventures, and authentic Arctic encounters for guests from all over the world.
A varied workday
This is a combined guiding position, offering the opportunity to work across two of our most appreciated winter experiences.
Some evenings you will welcome guests to our Aurora Husky Visit, where you create atmosphere, share knowledge about the northern lights, Arctic life, and local traditions, and help deliver a warm and memorable evening — whether the Aurora appears or not.
On other days, you will guide guests on snowshoe adventures through quiet, snow-covered landscapes, accompanied by our Alaskan huskies. Depending on conditions, you will lead guests through untouched terrain or along established trails, offering insight into Arctic nature and life in the North.
Each day brings something new — but the goal is always the same: to create meaningful, high-quality experiences that stay with our guests long after they leave.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who:
- Feels at home in Arctic winter conditions and enjoys being outdoors.
- Has a natural ability to engage and connect with people from different cultures.
- Enjoys storytelling and creating immersive guest experiences.
- Is positive, confident, and comfortable working both independently and in a team.
- Is physically fit and enjoys active, hands-on work.
- Has a genuine love for dogs — our huskies are an essential part of the experience.
- Speaks excellent English. Additional languages are highly valued.
- Has an interest in the northern lights, Arctic nature, and local culture.
- Has an eye for photography (an advantage, but not required).
- First aid certification is an advantage.
About the experiences
Aurora Husky Visit
- An atmospheric evening experience at our kennel — no bus chasing, just authentic Arctic ambience.
- Guests enjoy dinner, meet our huskies, and learn about the northern lights, Arctic life, and local traditions.
- Runs from September until the end of March (later start possible).
Morning Husky Snowshoe Hike
- Guided snowshoe hikes starting directly from our kennel.
- Guests explore the surrounding winter landscape together with our huskies.
- Runs from December until May, depending on snow conditions.
