Husky Café in Tromsø

Husky Café is open for the summer season.

  • Every day June 20 – August 16 (10:00–16:00)
What is the Husky Café?

The Husky Café is a unique summer experience at Tromsø Villmarkssenter, combining homemade food and drinks with a visit to our husky kennel.

When you arrive, you are free to explore the dog yard, where nearly 200 Alaskan huskies live. All of our dogs are used to visitors and enjoy meeting new people. You can walk around the kennel, spend time with the dogs, learn about their lives as sled dogs, and, of course, enjoy plenty of cuddles along the way.

A small number of dogs may also be roaming freely around the reception and café area. They are friendly and well-behaved, but please do not feed them, no matter how convincing they may be.

Meet the Puppies

During the summer months, you can also visit our puppy pen. The puppies spend much of their day playing, growing, and sleeping, so availability may vary depending on their schedule. If you happen to catch them awake, you’re in for a treat.

If you would like guaranteed quality time with both puppies and adult dogs, we recommend joining one of our popular Puppy Training or Husky Hike experiences.

Homemade Treats and Local Flavours

Inside the reception building, our Norwegian chef Emil prepares a selection of homemade treats and light meals using local ingredients whenever possible.

Our famous Husky muffin, Norwegian waffles, cakes, cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks, and ice cream are all available throughout the day.

You can enjoy your food indoors, relax in our traditional lavvo, or sit outside on the terrace overlooking the dog yard and surrounding nature.

A Family-Friendly Visit

The Husky Café is suitable for visitors of all ages and is particularly popular with families. We simply ask that parents keep children under supervision at all times to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both guests and dogs.

Whether you’re looking for a unique café near Tromsø, a family-friendly activity, or simply an excuse to spend time with huskies, the Husky Café offers a chance to slow down, enjoy good food, and experience life at a working sled dog kennel.
