Meet Floyd: The Floppy-Eared Gentle Soul Looking for His Forever Home!
Floyd, born in 2017, is ready to trade the snowy trails for the comfort of a warm couch and a loving human companion. This sweet boy has the floppiest ears in the dog yard, and his heart is just as soft and lovable.
Floyd’s Story
Floyd’s journey began in Svalbard, where he started his life as a sled dog. After some time, he traveled to Nordreisa and worked there until he finally joined our pack and settled in beautifully, quickly becoming a favorite among the other dogs. His gentle and kind nature made him a natural role model for training younger dogs. Floyd has been a hardworking sled dog, but some discomfort in his back means it’s time for him to retire. Thankfully, our vet has given him the green light to enjoy life as a loved pet, and we’re excited to find him the loving home he deserves.
Why Floyd Special
Floyd has had a taste of indoor life and loved it. He’s calm, well-behaved, and surprisingly quiet—though he can be adorably talkative when he’s happy and loves sharing “stories.” He enjoys cuddles and knows how to relax, making him a wonderful companion for quiet evenings.
The outside world is still a bit of an adventure for Floyd. City life is new to him, so he’s still figuring out things like bicycles, buses, and his biggest nemesis—trash bins (don’t ask us why)! While he’s not reactive, he needs a little extra time to adjust to unfamiliar surroundings. Watching him explore and find joy in these new experiences is heartwarming, like seeing an adult dog rediscover his inner puppy.
Floyd and Others
Floyd is kind to everyone he meets—big or small—and has never shown any issues around children. However, we think he’d thrive best in a home without very young kids (under six) to keep things calm for him. He’s also friendly with other dogs and could happily join a family with another furry friend.
What Floyd Needs
While Floyd’s days of pulling sleds are over, he’s the perfect companion for someone who enjoys gentle daily walks or peaceful hikes in the mountains. He doesn’t need a lot of exercise—just love, patience, and a warm place to call home.
