Visit from Tallin |

We had a special visit at the Wilderness Centre the 7th January. We got to meet Valentin from an Estonian orphanage in Tallin who was here to visit the dogs and puppies, along with representatives from the Peeteli Church in Tallin, “Street children in Estonia” and the fund-raising project “Christmas Plane” with clothes and toys to the slum in Tallin. As we had a couple of free spaces left in the sledges some of them, included Valentin got a free ride with the huskies. We hope that the little soft husky toy that was bought to him in our souvenir shop will follow him and remind him of an exciting evening and a joyful ride with the polar dogs here at the Wilderness Centre! We wish all of you that were here with Valentin good luck in the fantastic work you are doing! All our four legged and fury friends sends a special greeting to Valentin and hopes he will come back and drive his one sledge when he gets older! | | | | This is pictures of Valentin, Mati from Peeteli Church, Solveig Bergsland (”Street children in Estonia”), Willy Rundmo and our dog musher Torkil Hansen. Christmas Dog Sledging! |
|

We have had dog sledging trips every day during Christmas now, and we have happily experienced that a lot of people want to join us! The special light we have in December here in Tromsø leaves us with difficult photographic conditions. Nevertheless our guests can capture the unique blue light that occurs in the daytime between 9am – 11am, when we set out for our morning trip. An increased number of locals have invited Christmas guests to go dog sledding with us, and some has even come twice! We have already a lot of bookings for New Year’s Eve; some want to come and have a dinner and take some photos of the northern lights and some want to go dog sledging with us before returning back to the city and start the countdown to a new year! A happy New Year to everyone from Tromsø Wildernesscentre!

Siri and Ina from Sjøvegan High School have been for a 2 weeks trainee period at the Villmarkssenter. They have taken care of the dogs, cleaned the yard, prepared all equipment for the winter season and walked our puppies! All though the weather was cold and the work was sometimes pretty dirty, they had good spirit and always said yes! Thanks for all the good work! |
