Europe’s longest dog sledging race has now ended for our part, Tove and Tore checked inn at Alta at 06:00 this morning, together as always. They have now participated 15 years alone or together in the Finnmarkrace! This year they share the 24th place. Tove ended the race with 7 running dogs, and Tore had 8 left. Well done! Now it is time for a rest, and then return to the Wilderness Centre tomorrow. Tore will have half a day rest before he starts on the first long trip this year, together with 12 other participants!

Congratulation to Ralph Johannessen who won the race and congratulation to his excellent dogs that brought his wife to victory in the same race last year!

Tove and Tore has not reached the checkpoint “Neiden” yet and are now about 5h behind schedule. We expect them to be in any moment now and they and the dogs will take their 16h rest! The teams are looking really good, we have taken out Sami, Innuit, Beivas and Polarlys of the two teams but the rest are running like never before! Tove and Tore now shares place number 16 of 40.

Awful snow conditions! Suggérer par mail

We woke up to floated roads this morning and had to cancel all the dog sledging trips for today. A lot of water lies under the snow, and a test run with the dogs showed hidden rivers that made the dog sledging a bit dangerous. The wind speed has also increased during the day and it is now forecasted storm for tonight. All our competition dogs and our puppies will be taken indoors tonight, to rest on the heated floor. We are doing some last preparations for the Finnmarkrace, but all food and equipment for humans and dogs is already packed. The weather forecast promise us a nice day tomorrow so we hope that all the trips will run as normal tomorrow!
